William Henry Dunning ... was born on 7 May 1872, the fifth of eight children born to John Dunning of the 'Golden Fleece', Brisbane Street, Launceston, and his wife Susannah Sophia Luttrell. William was an architect and went to South Africa, where he married Kate Helen Gardner on 19 June 1897 at St George's Cathedral, Cape Town. William and Kate moved to New Zealand in 1905 with their two children. They shifted to Dunedin in 1909, where William worked out of the Express Buildings in Bond Street.
William died at the age of 60 on 6 March 1933 in Dunedin and Kate died in Timaru in 1946 aged 79
